It's a virtual desktop that emulates many characteristics of real desktops -- adding many techniques/features that only a computer could do. It's clearly in a demo stage, and a handful of people are quick to criticize, but what they (the dynamic graphics project from the university of Toronto Canada) have is very impressive.
