What’s in my DSLR camera bag? Here’s a list of the current items I’m using for my photography.
Primary Camera and accessories
- Nikon D300 (there are so many great reviews out there, that I’ve never bothered to write anything up as I wouldn’t add anything meaningful).
- Really Right Stuff BH-40 LR ball head
- Really Right Stuff Panorama MPR-CL II nodal slide (for better panoramas)
- Really Right Stuff L-Plate (you’ve got to get this if you’re buying a nice camera and a great ball head).
- Nikon 80-400mm f/4.5-5.6D ED Autofocus VR Zoom Nikkor Lens (very nice lens for the price — I’ve got some pictures here and here)
- Tamron 18-250mm F/3.5-6.3 AF Di-II LD Aspherical (IF) Macro Lens for Nikon Digital SLR Cameras
- Tamron 18-270mm (new in October 2008)
- Nikon 50mm f/1.4D AF Nikkor Lens
- Promaster 7500EDF Flash
- Wimberley P10 Quick Release Plate (for the 80-400mm lens)
- Wimberley AK-100 (used with the Really Right Stuff quick release LR clamp).
- Wimberley “The Sidekick”
- Joby Gorillapod SLR-Zoom Flexible Tripod (I talked about it here briefly)
- Gitzo GT2530
- Wireless shutter release for the D300
- Nikon MC-30 Remote Shutter Release (overpriced, but when you want reliability for a remote shutter release, you can’t beat this).
- Extra batteries and 2 Kingston 4GB compact flash memory cards
- Giotto Rocket-Air (cleaning lens/sensor)
- Kenko Extension Tubes (for macro photography)
Compact Camera
Canon PowerShot SD870IS (my review here). There are newer versions of this camera that are all very similar. I’ve owned two editions of this same camera (one my wife uses now) and really liked both of them. Highly recommended.
