If Microsoft were to spend time on just ONE thing for the next 6-8 months — what would you pick?
- Vista+
- .NET Framework 4.0
- Silverlight
- WPF/WCF/WF/etc..
- Exchange Server
- Windows Server
- Marketing (seriously — trying to address the negative market)
- Zune
- Other — but it can’t be more than one identifiable thing.
Remember, just one thing. Just one.
You can rank them if you’d like — because I know it’s hard to select. But — no ties for first place.
My list would look like this:
Vista, Silverlight, .NET, Marketing, Everything else.
The only reason I’d pick Vista first is because there’s such a bad impression of Vista right now — sometimes rightfully so (and many are just Vista-bashers).

Definitely Silverlight. If one were creating a RIA *today*, the most conservative architectural choice is Flex/Flash/AIR. Microsoft needs to enhance Silverlight to change that.
